Free write on ''I Felt a funeral, In my Brain''
I was thinking that maybe Dickinson was going through a difficult time when she wrote this poem and she was thinking that her life was over just how life is over for a person when they die which comes in her metaphor for the funeral. I think that the ''funeral in my brain'' is a metaphor that can infer that she was not mentally stable or that she has brain cancer something that is affecting her right state of mind. In the poem she mentions she hears ''drum beating noises in her mind '' and it bothers her so it might be like when menatlly ill people hear voices in their head that wont leave them alone or back to the cancer, the noise can be the pain she is feeling from the disease that is killing her inside. I wonder if something terrible in her life happened that made her so unhappy and sick...N.V:)
